Neil replaced John E Averill in late April 1968 and was there to the end. We had gone out looking for a replacement for John E, and saw Neil's group playing at the Gala in St Stephens.
We liked what we saw and approached him after the gig. He seemed relieved that we were not there to beat him up, and he agreed to join us straight away.

Neil was lead singer on quite a few numbers towards the end, and was very popular.
